Blueberry Bonus and some Essential makeup tips!

Beauty, Tips, Blog

I hope you all enjoyed colour board week! I had so much fun working on it that I decided to add a bonus day! Blueberry day!

I’ve added an essential list of makeup tips to this post that isn’t colour specific but rather apply to all makeup. These tips are fantastic and I have no doubt that you’ll use them!

Just to stick to the format, here is some Blueberry information from Wiki:

Basket-of-blueberries

Blueberries are perennial flowering plants with indigo-colored berries from the section Cyanococcus within the genus Vaccinium (a genus that also includes cranberries, bilberries and grouseberries). Species in the section Cyanococcus are the most common fruits sold as “blueberries” and are native to North America (commercially cultivated highbush blueberries were not introduced into Europe until the 1930s). Blueberries are usually erect, prostrate shrubs that can vary in size from 10 centimeters (3.9 in) to 4 meters (13 ft) in height. – Wikipedia

Anybody else find the end of that description mildly amusing? 😝

Are your makeup skills making you blue? Here are some top tips for you:

If you want sheer coverage use your fingers to apply your foundation. For medium to full coverage use a brush. The Bobbi Brown foundation brush is pretty amazing!

I only like to use powder on my T-Zone, that way you don’t look too matte and dull.

Applying blush is as easy as smiling… So smile when you apply it! Then brush it from your ear down your cheek bone towards your jawline. I like to do a few lighter strokes and build up the blush, rather than too much blush at once.

Use a highlighter above your blush line and blend it in. Also, use it on your brow, and nose. For more highlighting tips check out our Going for Gold post.

Defining your eyebrows is a must but don’t overdo it. We’re going for a “dammmn girl” look, but in a good way, not a “damn girl did your kid draw on your face with a permanent marker” kinda way. Use the right colour, slightly darker than your natural brow colour is ok. Line on the top more to give it a lifting effect.

Get up close and personal with your mirror when you apply eyeliner. Apply at an angle from the inner corner outwards.

Start your eyeshadow routine with a light colour that matches the lightest skin on your face. Use that as a base and apply your darker eyeshadow over it.

Use zig-zag motions to apply mascara from the base of your eyelashes to the tip. I generally do two layers in the day and three at night (for a bit of added drama). 😉

Happy Makeup-ing!
